This book will take young readers on a journey through time. Together with the author, they will visit the houses of inhabitants of cities and villages from different, often very distant, times.

They will look inside a clay hut in hot East Africa and an ice igloo in the frosty Arctic, they will visit a tenement house in ancient Rome, a medieval castle and a country cottage from the beginning of the 19th century.

They will also visit houses with no windows, no doors and even no chimney, and they will find out that not only concrete, bricks and glass, but also animal bones and excrement, earth and hay can be used to build a house.
