I’m sick of it!
Designed for readers ages 9 to 12, it tackles the challenging subject of cancer in a wholly unique and out-of-the-ordinary way—as an adventure comic.
Twelve-year-old Dela has a puppy named Pusia, a brother named Olek, and a passion for dance. And if she hadn’t received a visit from an odd elderly woman named Disease, things would have been wonderful. The true accounts of children battling cancer and those who have already made a full recovery served as the inspiration for Adela’s story. The writers describe the illness and the mechanisms by which the body fights cancer in a sage, humorous, and kid-friendly manner. The narrative also depicts the unexpected incidents that young patients face daily. It draws the reader in from the first with its tone—it’s not a depressing tale that stifles tears and leaves them feeling helpless. On the contrary, it’s intriguing, lighthearted, and occasionally even hilarious.
“Cancer is darkness; a child is brightness. Furthermore, this book shines light on even the darkest paths like a lantern. With it, optimism grows as strong as the sun and fear shrinks to the size of a small dog.” Katarzyna Stoparczyk,
