Grown-up’s Wars, Children’s Stories series
The books in this series tackle the subject of war, life in a world of uncertainty, experiencing a difficult fate, fear and threats in an approachable, a child-friendly way. Award-winning, appreciated, moving, written simply and without pathos, they bring closer the reality of ordinary people—adults, but especially, children—who were thrown into the turmoil of war by fate. Some of these books are based on the recollections of one of the authors, Joanna Papuzińska, and historical accounts. Through the perspective of a child whose happy, carefree, and safe world has crumbled, we witness the conflict. The books present the fate of children who experienced the loss of loved ones, their family home and their surroundings. They can also become a starting point for conversations with a young reader about difficult issues.
