BOOKFACE. The Book of Faces of the Writers
Have you ever considered what it might be like if Dante had a social media profile? Not just him, but also Boccaccio, Emily Dickinson, Agatha Christie, Franz Kafka, and Allen Ginsberg. Bookface. This book is the fulfilment of a fantasy about a writer, another contemporary dialogue: suppose that great literary celebrities publish posts in which they discuss their issues, advise their colleagues, and compete for fame. On Bookface, writers can do anything—expose weaknesses, curse, provoke. And allow themselves to be malignant. Perhaps this group will include more than one hater, but it is better to stick to the theory that literature softens manners!
The form of expression is brief, as it is on social media. But there’s a lot going on here. The Bookface makes it evident that egotism, neurosis, and sadness are the best sources of inspiration for writers. This is the uniqueness of social media, which, after all, is an extract of problems as old as human history
